Who we are
My name is Boston Loney, owner of this business. I am an avid outdoorsman and an Engineer by trade.
The Boston’s ER got kickstarted from my capstone project for my Master’s in Information of Engineering Management from UAB.
When I was young, ten and under, I’d find myself at my neighbor Brian’s house helping him with his tools and outdoor power equipment (lawn mower more than anything) by getting things back into working order. For my family, it was common to try to fix something or buying used before new. From there, I found myself always tinkering with anything I could get my hands on. It wasn’t until I was 17 and moved out to my family’s farm that I really developed a love for lawn care. For some, it’s the lawn mower stripes, whereas I enjoy the time being outdoors and taking care of the land. We’d work on the tractor, lawn mower, weed eaters, etc. as needed when things suddenly needed repair. In addition to that, I’ve always had a love for vehicles. At the age of 15, I called over 10 different auto shops in the area; asking if they’d take an intern as I had no other opportunity to learn about cars. One shop called back, gave me an interview, and next thing I knew I had a summer internship learning about cars.
Now, here I am, almost 8 years later wanting to give that back to others. Whether it’s me coming from a “dumpster diving” family or the piles of furniture I see often on the side of the road outside of houses, it seems to me that society today spends a lot of time buying things new versus giving the proper TLC (time, love, and care) to items that once served us best.
I recognize that time, love, care, and knowledge can be hard to come by – which is why I want to start up this business to kickstart the re-use of old equipment for sustainability to start my local community off small. My hope is that one day we first look toward a solution of repair, before ordering the next shiny thing.
What People Are Saying
“Over the course of about a week, I noticed my car making some rather concerning grinding sounds which I concluded must have been my brakes. I asked Boston to have a look at my car and see if he could help me and he did not hesitate to order the parts and take the time to replace my brakes so that I could continue to drive my car safely. Even when there was a small complication, he ensured that I had transportation while it was being fixed into the next day and that the car was returned to me promptly as soon as the brakes were fixed. Thanks Boston!”

Boston graciously met me in Louisville to take a look at my car and prioritize my safety over convenience and it was very heartwarming to feel. I’ll did an exceptional job I had diagnosing the issue in my car and making sure that I was able to drive back home safely and securely 10 out of 10 would recommend.”
